THE EKKA - Brisbane

Pictures and words by Tony Webb

These pictures were taken at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground - The Ekka - on September 13th 2008. The grand old lady of Queensland speedway is a survivor, just waiting for a promoter!! The track is there, the stadium is in pristine condition and the crowds are eager as you can see from these shots of the September vintage speedcar day. John Titman gave three demo rides and showed he also could still be a force to be reckoned with.

One for you Exeter, Halifax, Leicester, Hackney and Wimbledon fans with long memories. John Titman on his 1978 Weslake in the Ekka pits, John did say the leathers were a tad tight, but they are thirty years old.
