Eddie Rigg Update

Eddie Rigg's granddaughter Trish Gorman got in touch with us a while back seeking information on his career, which when added to what she already knew, formed an excellent article entitled Eddie Rigg's Lifeline.

She's now been back in touch to update us on what's happened since:

Hi all, its Trish from Australia,

just a quick note to update you on progress on Pa's Speedway Career, from your webpage regarding Eddie Rigg. Well you wouldn't believe it, but firstly I received an email from a MYRTLE WALTHO only to discover it was Pa's Nephew, my second cousin I think. It was amazing to actually discover I had family and to be able to contact them, it was a very emotional and enlightening experience and how very grateful I am for it, I could never put into words.

Meanwhile just the other week I just received an email from a David Sykes who maintains the SPORTS HONOURS BOARD for Mirfield Sports Council and the email reads:

"I was recently approached by Colin Fretwell on behalf of his brother Harry who is visiting from Australia and had seen the honours board in its current home at Mirfield library and realized that your grandfather was a possible name for inclusion. I have come across your name on the EDDIE RIGG LIFELINE section on speedway plus. I will present the details to our committee at our next meeting on Monday 12th October and will then get in touch with you again to confirm when the details will be entered onto the board. "

I couldn't believe it! WOW! What an honor, and you know what, its all thanks to everyone at Speedway Plus, if it wasn't for all your hard work, effort and dedication, none of this would have happened. I wish there was some way I could repay you for all the happiness you have brought into my life, if there's anything that I could do please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you again all! Keep up the great work.

  • Wally Waltho:

"Eddie was my Uncle, Dad's Sister's husband. I Knew him after move to Australia both in Clovelly and Wembley Down."
