Woffy's Charity Ride

Wolverhampton Speedway ace Tai Woffinden is to take on a gruelling challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Woffinden will cycle from Monmore Green to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff over two days ahead of the British Grand Prix on Saturday, June 1.

He's set an initial target of £20,000 for the cause but he hopes to break that barrier comfortably.

'Woffy' lost his father Rob, a former rider himself, to cancer in 2010 and he is the inspiration behind the charity ride.

Said Tai: "I will leave Wolverhampton on Tuesday, May 27. It's the day after our home meeting with Birmingham.

"I will cycle via Birmingham, Redditch, Gloucester, the Severn Bridge, Newport and arrive in Cardiff on the Wednesday night in good time to prepare for the British GP on June 1.

"My Dad is the inspiration behind this project. He did everything for me to get me started in Speedway and I said at the time we lost him that I had lost my best friend as well as my Dad.

"According to Cancer Research UK more than one in three people in this country will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime."

Donations can be made through Woffinden's Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/taiwoffinden01008 and Woffinden is hoping to raise funds through other projects as well.

You can also donate by text by texting WOFF50 (amount) to 70070.
