Mercia Vikings 2012

2012 sees a new name in the speedway ranks - the Mercia Vikings.

Originally known as Team Viking they have now changed direction to help young up and coming British riders gain experience and providing them with help to get up to National League standard.

They will compete in the Midland Development League which runs as a 2nd half junior league. Last year's competition was a huge success and they finished the season as runners-up in the grand final behind Long Eaton. They are based out of Sheffield for the time being but the aim is to get a Midland base.

The league is run on a strictly amateur basis and riders receive no payments - This is where YOUR HELP can come in.

They are offering a supporters package for just £2. For this you will receive a bi-weekly newsletter providing details of fixtures, results and updates, 10% discount of all Viking merchandise, signed team photos and your name will also go onto a members wall on the website. Also at the end of the season you will go into a draw to win one of 2012's race bibs signed by the riders.

All this for a bargain £2 per year - That's less than a pint of beer!!!!

All money raised will go into a riders fund which will be shared out every month to help cover costs that they build up.

Please email Kevin Lapworth on teamvikingsw@aol.com if you are interested in helping Britain's next generation of riders.
