Gillman Benefit for Darcy

Darcy Ward

Gillman Speedway manager David Parker has announced the Adelaide venue will stage a tribute meeting on Saturday, 7 November, for badly injured Australian Speedway star Darcy Ward.

Parker revealed "We have a HUGE meeting planned with the gate proceeds going to Darcy Ward, so please keep November 7 free. We are endeavouring to assemble a star-studded cast of riders which will make this a meeting not to be missed as we want as many people as we can cram into the stadium to attend to raise as much as possible for Darcy.

"It is too early to be able to name any of the Solo riders which we hope will include a number of overseas stars as well as the best of the Australian riders, and I must thank Leigh Adams, Chris Holder and Mark Lemon for their help in arranging things so far, but I can already announce the top seven riders from last season's Australian Sidecar Championship, plus former Australian Champion Mark Mitchell, will make up the eight rider Sidecar line-up.

"Several well-known Adelaide-based major sponsors have also already committed their support including Mitas Tyres, who will supply tyres for every rider, the Mitchell's, Blackchrome Sportswear, Sailun Tyres, CBS Bins, Wayville Speedway Promotions and Hawthorndene Electrical.

"We will be selling sponsorship packages for all of the heat races and we expect these will be snapped up very quickly, so if anyone wants to sponsor a heat they should contact me as soon as possible on 0403 364 658, or dave@gillmanspeedway.com

"More details will be announced as they come to hand but we have some exciting things happening so please remember to keep November 7, the Saturday night after the FIM U21 Teams Meeting at Mildura, free.

A fund has been set up to help Darcy at this difficult time, you can donate online at pledgie.com/accounts/DarcyWardFoundation43
